Who are we
A manufacturer built to sit behind retailers.
Speedy Blinds makes curtains, curtain tracks and roller blinds. We work out of Thomastown, in Melbourne's north, and we supply retailers and installers, never their customers.
Our job is to make what your order says, keep the information straight on the way through, help the people quoting and installing it, and give you a straight answer when something needs one.
We never sell to your customer
Not as a policy we could change next year. It's written into our trading terms: we don't quote, measure, install for or sell made to measure curtains, tracks or blinds to the public.
So you can send us the address, the customer's name and the whole job file without wondering where it ends up.
When a homeowner finds us, we don't take the job. We hand them to a retailer who uses this workroom. That could be you.

There is no rush fee here and there never has been. If a job has to be done, tell us and we will tell you straight away whether we can do it.

Still taking orders before Christmas
Most workrooms stop between late October and mid November. We usually take orders for Christmas to the end of November, and we leave room after that for the ones that cannot wait.
What quality means here
Quality isn't a word on a banner. It's whether the finished item matches the order you sent and the tolerance we publish for that product.
That's why the specification goes in writing, why the tolerances are written down, and why our manufacturing is backed by the Made to Spec Guarantee.
If something looks like it's outside the order or the tolerance, send us the job number and photos. Claims have time limits, so tell us early rather than late.
What it's like to deal with us
We'd rather spend ten minutes on the phone before an order than an hour on a remake after it.
There are no stupid questions
First curtain job? Not sure what a return or a stackback should be? Ask. Everyone who works here has answered that question before and nobody minds answering it again.
Straight answers
If a configuration won't work, we'll tell you why and what will. If we don't know, we'll check rather than guess. If we get something wrong, we'll say so and fix it.
Every order you send has a customer of yours at the other end of it, and you've already done the finding, the measuring, the samples, the quote and the follow up to win it. One blind or a whole house: it matters to you, so it matters here.
What we produce
Manufacturing times
These are our standard manufacturing times. They're estimates, and they stretch through the industry's peak months, from the last week of October into January. That happens everywhere in this industry, and we'd rather tell you now than in November.
If a job is tight, call us before you promise a date to your customer.
We also close over Christmas and New Year. Exact dates go out to all retailers in advance.

What we can take on
Moving your work to a new workroom is only worth doing if it can absorb you. Here is the honest shape of what leaves the factory, and roughly 500 metres of curtain fabric goes through it on a normal day.

Everything you need before you order
Check stock, confirm a pricing group, or work through a motor setup without having to call us. All three are on this site, with no login. If you'd rather ask, call anyway. You get someone who knows the product, not a ticket number.

Better machinery
Modern equipment cuts out the slow manual steps a machine does more consistently than a person can.
One set of order details
Your order moves through our systems as one record, and feeds the machinery directly where the machinery supports it. Less retyping, fewer chances to mistype.
A repeatable process
Controlled options, written specifications and production checks. The same job comes out the same way in November as it does in March.
People who know the work
Machines do what machines are good at. Experienced people handle the fabric, make the calls and check the result.
None of it takes people out of the work. It gives experienced people better tools and cleaner information to work from.
How pricing and payment work
One list, no negotiating
Everyone pays the same. It means you never have to wonder whether the shop down the road is quoting off better numbers than you are.
Paid in full before production
We don't run credit accounts. That's the trade off that keeps one price on the list and keeps us making instead of chasing invoices. Most of our retailers take deposits from their own customers, so the money is in hand before the order reaches us.

We make everything at our Thomastown factory, in Melbourne's north. Collection from the factory is welcome during business hours.
