Roller blind motor setup

Start from the exact model on the motor label or the job paperwork. Motors from the same brand use different remotes, different power and different setup sequences. The brand name on its own isn't enough to go on.

Find your motor

Before you start

  • Confirm the exact model, and the remote or controller.
  • Check whether the motor is wired or battery powered.
  • Charge a battery motor fully before programming it.
  • Read the whole sequence before you reset anything or delete limits.
  • Keep the blind clear of people and obstructions.
  • Stop if the motor responds differently to what the guide says.
Fixed electrical work is for a licensed electrician. Don't cut, modify or reconnect fixed wiring unless you're qualified and authorised to.

Wiring and installation

Programming instructions don't replace the electrical or installation requirements. Confirm the power location, which side the motor is on, bracket clearance and access before the blind goes up.

A factory reset can wipe working programming. Don't reset a motor that's working just because the remote is on the wrong channel.

If the setup won't complete

“The motor isn't working” is very hard to diagnose from here. The exact response usually tells us where to start. Send us:

  • The Speedy job number.
  • A clear photograph of the motor label.
  • Photographs of the front and back of the remote.
  • The exact light, beep or movement sequence the motor gave you.
  • Every step you've already tried.
