Should curtains clear the floor or puddle?

Curtains can either clear the floor or puddle. It is a design decision, and neither is wrong. A curtain that clears the floor looks cleaner and is easier to live with and to clean. A puddled curtain is a deliberate look where extra fabric rests on the floor, and it needs more arranging.

For a floor clear curtain, tell your retailer the gap you actually want rather than relying on a standard number. They measure from the installed track reference down to the floor at several points across the opening. Floors and ceilings are rarely level, and the bracket, track, runner and heading dimensions all sit inside that calculation.

A puddled curtain looks softer but needs more arranging and more cleaning. If you want a puddle, agree the amount with your retailer so it is written on the order.

Natural fibre fabrics move as conditions change. Talk that through with your retailer before you approve the fabric and the finished drop, not after.

This answer is general information. For your own windows, your retailer's advice and your order with them come first.
