Why do S Fold curtains flick outward at the ends?

S Fold curtains flick outward at the ends because there is no opposing fold at the edge to hold the last one in shape. The heading tape remembers its curve, and with nothing pulling back against it the tail flicks out and droops a little. It is a characteristic of the system, not a fault.

Every fold in the middle of the curtain is balanced by the folds either side of it. The one at each end isn't. It only has a neighbour on one side. Tape memory does the rest.

It's a characteristic of the S Fold system rather than a fault in the making. It also isn't something more fullness or a different fabric reliably fixes.

What the installer can do

  • Secure the tail to the adjacent fold with tag fasteners. This is the usual on site fix and it works.
  • Where a straight side finish matters to you, ask your retailer about Wave Fold before you order. The hook based heading behaves differently at the edge.
Worth knowing before you choose S Fold. It's a small thing, and your retailer or installer can secure the tail if it bothers you.

This answer is general information. For your own windows, your retailer's advice and your order with them come first.
